A Treatise On Terrorism in Pakistan

A Treatise On Terrorism The recent chain of suicide bombings has raised many questions. Why terrorism has only grappled Pakistan? Why are security forces not able to stop these attacks? What is the government doing to curb terrorism? Why are only Pashto and Pashto areas suffering? Terrorism is not unknown to Pakistan, especially KPK, this province has suffered from terrorism for decades. The Government and security forces have failed to stop these inhuman and brutal attacks showing their failure and commitment. The recent string of terrorist attacks is directly related to the rise of the Taliban in Afghanistan. They have a history of providing shelter to terrace groups previously they provided shelter to Al-Qaida and now they are providing shelter to TTP. Applauding the rise of the Taliban in Afghanistan and not focusing on its repercussions for Pakistan -as some leaders like Imran Khan and Khawaja Asif did- is now watching the demise of people. This highlights the lack of seriou...

The Diary of Social Butterfly By Moni Mohsin

The Diary of Social Butterfly by Moni Mohsin Review If you don’t know me then all I can say, baba, is that you must be some loser from outer space. Janoo’s mother is a window, sorry, sorry, I meant widow, and I call her The Old Bag. These are some of the dialogues from Moni Mohsin's "The Diary of Social Butterfly" She wrote a series of articles for The Friday Times and then compiled them in the form of a novel. The Interesting thing about this novel is its unique, creative language and satire.  Mohsin does not write in standard English, rather she writes informal and casual English full of code-mixing because the protagonist Butterfly is a pretentious character and speaks incorrect English.  In its comical tone, this novel highlights various issues of Pakistani society in a nonchalant manner.  On the other hand, there are some drawbacks as well. This novel has no plot, suspense or mystery. It is composed of different articles most of which are unrelated except chro...

Self-Reliance by Ralph Waldo Emerson

Self-Reliance Essay by Ralph Waldo Emerson “To believe your own thoughts, to believe what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men, — that is genius.” Emerson in Self-Reliance discusses individualism, non-conformity, religion, and society's role in shaping our behaviour. He argues that instead of following others we should do what we think is suitable. He believes that the essence of life lies in non-conformity. If a person lives a life of conformity it is worthless. Emerson gives examples of famous men and intellectuals whose names are written in the records of history, such as Plato, Aristotle, Mosses and Milton who have not read much but spoke their hearts out. Emerson says that when we read a work of genius we find our own rejected thoughts.   There is a time when one realizes that envy is ignorance; imitation is suicide; and nothing is achievable without toil. A person feels elevated when he puts his heart into something and does his best. Childhood is an era ...

Music when Soft Voices Die (To --) BY PERCY BYSSHE SHELLEY English-Urdu Translation by Abdullah Saif.

Music when Soft Voices Die (To --) BY PERCY BYSSHE SHELLEY English-Urdu Translation by  Abdullah Saif Music, when soft voices die, Vibrates in the memory— Odours, when sweet violets sicken, Live within the sense they quicken. Rose leaves, when the rose is dead, Are heaped for the belovèd's bed; And so thy thoughts, when thou art gone, Love itself shall slumber on.
